The Android game console market seems to get a boost. Although the OUYA console failed to satisfy a lot off users, new projects haven’t stopped coming. The latest is the Project M.O.J.O. Android game console by Mad Catz.
The console runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), and supports existing digital storefronts like Amazon Appstore and Google Play. No customization needed to run existing games on the console. If a user owns hundreds of games, those can be played on the console out of the box.
The M.O.J.O. game console looks like a black slab that comes with a HDMI port and both standard and micro USB connectors. The console has no screen of its own. It can be connected to TV screens through HDMI port. The device is still in prototype stage. The final hardware is expected to pack 16 GB internal storage, expandable microSD storage, Bluetooth Smart 4.0, Wi-Fi and a headphone jack.
The Project M.O.J.O. was the result of a partnership between Mad Catz and Nividia. The console will leverage Mad Catz’s GameSmart platform, introduced in January at CES.
The Project M.O.J.O. console is expected to go on sale later this year.
