Imangi Studios revealed a statistics on Dec 26 that Temple Run (version 1) was downloaded more than 1 million times on iOS, more than 1 million times on Android and over 500,000 times on Amazon’s Appstore. The game was the top free and top grossing app on Apple’s App Store with over 40 million downloads in 2012. Such huge success inspired the game developer to make a sequel. So the developer released Temple Run 2 on January 17 for iOS, free.
Since its release, Temple Run 2 has been downloaded 6 million times in iOS devices on the very first day. In its first four days of release, Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 20 million times on the iOS App Store. No doubt, as the game was “free to download”, so iOS users started to download the game. Now the Temple Run 2 has become one of the highest grossing apps in the store.
