Apple’s products have become the hallmark of excellence since they comprise today’s high-end gadgetry. They are mobile, the likes of iPad and iPhone, and expensive all the same. So they are stolen often. In a case that came to light recently, an iPhone was stolen, and then re-stolen from the person who first stole it, eventually reaching the owner in the end.
The story is quite amusing in itself, given the fact that a lost iPhone is scarcely recovered by the original owner. The incident happened back in November, 2012 in New York City. A 16-year old girl was on her way when she was confronted by three boys who were nearly her age-fellows.
One of them tried to snatch her iPhone which she had in her hand. She resisted but he tried harder, snatched it off and the three of them made away with it. The girl went back the way she had come, spotted two police officers and reported the incident.
The boys, on the other hand, decided to split, with one of them carrying the iPhone with him. This guy, wearing pink sneakers, tried to sell the new iPhone on Bedford Avenue. But the man who seemed interested in buying rather snatched it and ran away. The boy stopped the police car and acting the victim, told them he had been robbed of his iPhone.
The police was able to track down the man who ran away with the handset and took him and the boy to the nearest police station. Meanwhile, the girl was still driving with the police officers who suggested that perhaps she should call her iPhone from a different number. She did and the call was picked by the police officers now escorting the two thieves. Soon, the officers on both ends realized what was going on and the girl was taken to the station where she got her iPhone back. The two culprits, on the other hand, were nabbed by the police.
