iPhone 5S To Arrive In September, Followed By Cheap iPhone 6?

As we near the later part of this year, all eyes are set on Apple. The company is expected to come out with a new iPhone model sometime in September, with some publications claiming that Apple may release iPhone 5S on September 20. Let’s see how true this turns out to be, given that Apple has a knack of surprising us when it comes to launch dates.

iPhone 5S concept

The technology editor of International Business Times, Dave Smith, has coined the September 20 release date, basing his claim on a number of factors. According to him, iOS 7 will be released exactly 100 days after iOS 6 and that iPhone 5S will then be released two days after iOS 7 arrives. It isn’t clear exactly how he devised all this maths but he seems to fervently believe on it.

However, Smith’s claim for the release date of iPhone 5S is rather insignificant compared to the other prediction he has made. In this piece, he writes that within a week or two of the iPhone 5S release, Apple will dish out a low-cost iPhone 6. This model will be meant for the developing markets and for those factions which are not ready to spend a significant sum on a high-end smartphone.

Apparently, the low-cost iPhone 6 will first be unveiled in China and India, and will be available in a number of colors. While the iPhone announcements are expected to happen in September, Apple will make iPad-related announcements in October.

Smith says that Apple may announce a new full-size iPad as well as a Retina iPad Mini. Whereas Apple is nearly sure to release new iPad models, there is no way to validate Smith’s claims.
