When Samsung launched its last flagship smartphone, Galaxy S III, the company was able to muster fairly good sales and make it among the leading brands in the Android arena. The new flagship from Samsung, Galaxy S4, seems to be even more popular, with a UK retailer citing that interest in Galaxy S4 is 40% higher than that in Galaxy S III.
This has been revealed by the UK retailer Phones 4U. And the number provided by Phones 4U is not empty rhetoric. Rather, it is based on the number of pre-registrations that users have done to get their hands on Galaxy S4 as soon as possible.
Other reports have speculated that Galaxy S4 may be able to garner as much as 10 million sales within the first month of its availability. Our take is that we may see the total first-month sales go well beyond that number.
According to Phones 4U, the new smartphone has a ‘strong chance of becoming the biggest selling smartphone of 2013.’ That remains to be seen, especially because iPhone’s sales still outdo those of Samsung’s Galaxy handsets and with Apple all set to launch iPhone 5S this year, Galaxy S4 may yet again be in the second place.
In a press release from the retailer, it stated that, “The Samsung Galaxy S 4 has exceeded our expectations in terms of technological innovation and form factor and we are extremely excited about its arrival at Phones 4u.”
