In recent times, we have seen Google come out with some amazingly priced products such as Nexus 7 and Moto G. Samsung is apparently readying to take on this competition by releasing a $135 tablet of its own soon.
The South Korean manufacturer is gearing up to launch a whole barrage of tablets in 2014. Many of these slates will reportedly arrive with exceptionally low price points and will be ‘Lite’ variants of more expensive tablets. Until now, it has been hinted that Samsung will launch Galaxy Note 3 Lite, Galaxy Grand Lite and Galaxy Tab 3 Lite in the next year.
The latest of these revelations is the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite which, insiders claim, will arrive at an astonishing price of a mere $135. The said sources also cite that the tablet will most likely be made available by the first week of January, 2014.
Unlike many would expect, even at such low price point, Samsung is planning to offer both the Wi-Fi as well as 3G variant of Galaxy Tab 3 Lite. The fact that there will be a 3G variant essentially means that Samsung will pack fairly respectable specifications in the tablet. Samsung has recently hinted that it is working on an OLED-display tablet and some have argued that this be a reference to the Tab 3 Lite.
However, not many details about the specs of the tablet are known so far. It is hard to imagine how Samsung will pull off a decent slate with such a low price point. But then, Google may have forced other vendors to drop down their profit margins in a bid to win over more customers.
