If you want to get someone’s attention in Facebook, then poke is simply the best option. At the same time, it’s one of the meaningless features that are used just to annoy someone. But the very interesting thing is, lately this Facebook poke feature has eventually led a man to fall in love with a total stranger and finally it ended up to marriage proposal.
In 2007, 32-year-old (current age) Toronto-based Steven Kawalit saw a pretty girl named Nafis Joon on his Facebook news feed and he poked her. Joon responded to that poke and later they became good Facebook friend. They started chatting with each other very often and finally they met in person for the first time in Toronto, Canada, where they both live. But till then, Steven Kawalit didn’t fall in love with Nafis Joon.
However, in 2014, Kawalit told Joon that they had won a contest to tour Facebook’s headquarter. On the other hand, Kawalit had already contacted Facebook ahead of that tour to ask if he could propose to his girlfriend there. After hearing Kawalit’s love story, Facebook gave him permission.
On June 23, Kawalit and Joon visited Facebook’s headquarter and met Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg and chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg. While they were visiting the campus, all on a sudden Facebook displayed the words “Nafis, will you marry me?” on a big screen and Kawalit went down on one knee.
At that moment, Joon saw a photographer was taking their picture. The photographer told Joon to turn around. Joon turned around and saw the words on the display.
Then she looked back to Kawalit, Kawalit proposed Joon for marriage and she nodded her head.
Joon was very much surprised. She had never expected that she would get a proposal in this way where Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg will be present.
Later, Joon shared the news along with some photos and a video on her Facebook wall. Here, you can seen the video of the proposal.
