Facebook Tests Redesign Of Timeline Profile Pages

Facebook has been rolling out its Timeline profiles for quite some time. While many have responded very excitedly and happily towards it, calling it a far better way of organizing their profiles, others have complained about the privacy issues that the Timeline brings into question. Now, it has been revealed that Facebook is working on further redesigning the Timeline pages.

It has now been reported that Facebook is testing a redesign of the Timeline feature on limited profiles, just to see how it looks and what are the pros and cons from a user’s perspective.

In the redesigned Timeline profiles, the name and a brief ‘About me’ is dragged on top of the cover photo, so that the page looks a lot less cluttered. Right under the cover photos are small icons pointing to a summary of life events, friends, photos, maps and favorites.

The chief different is that in the earlier design, a whole block of information comes right under the cover photo separately, looking a lot more stuffed and a tab bit unpleasant, visually. The new ‘Summary’ tab is also great in that it can gives a compressed version of the life events in the user’s life, rather than making one navigate through the entire Timeline to know about them.

However, Facebook may not stop at that and may be testing a number of other features for the Timeline which we are not yet aware of. When asked about this testing, Facebook responded by saying, “We can confirm this is a small test, but don’t have anything further to share at this time.” So we can expect some changes to land the Timeline pages in the coming days.
