We have heard many weird things, but nothing like this one. A man from South Korea has claimed that his pet dog gave birth to a cat after “a prolonged ramble one night”. Can our medical or genetic science find the answer “how a dog gave birth to a cat?”
The name of the South Korean man is Jeong Pyong-bong. He is 63 years old. Pyong-bong has a pet dog. His dog became pregnant in May. Recently that dog gave birth to seven puppies. But Pyong-bong found, not all the cute baby animals were puppies. One was different. The different one seemed to be a cat as it was meowing and purring like a kitten.
Jeong Pyong-bong said, “It’s utterly true. This is a miracle. After a small animal was born, I stared looking at it in disbelief. It looked like a cat and was meowing like a cat. So how can it be a puppy?” He also said, “I think I know how this happened. My dog went for a long wander one night – in fact she was out all night – and I think she got up to some mischief with the ally cats.”
But experts have said this “miracle birth” as genetically impossible. Professor Son Chang-ho of Chonnnam National University’s College of Veterinary Science, said, “It’s impossible for a dog to give birth to a cat. The number and trait of chromosomes in canines and felines are completely different. It is possible that this is a puppy that just looks like a kitten.”
It could be a hoax for publicity or could be true. Who knows? Let that baby animal (can’t say surely whether it is a puppy or kitten) grow a bit. After it is grown up, if it still do meow and behave like a cat, then we will see.
