NCESSE Announces Student Spaceflight Experiment Program For 2012-2013

The space science group National Center for Earth and Space Science Education (NCESSE) may take us on a ride for their fifth wave of microgravity experiments aboard the International Space Station. All international students including US from grade 5 to university level have been invited to submit their ideas until September 12th, 2012. No doubt, this is a golden opportunity for a student to show his talents.

Student Spaceflight Experiments Program (SSEP) is a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education immersion program that provides a truly authentic research experience on the high frontier. It was launched in June 2010 along with 300 students across a community. The students used to do the scientific research on their own design, using a highly captivating spaceflight opportunity on the International Space Station (ISS) at America’s newest National Laboratory.

For the zero gravity experiment, each participating community will get a real research mini-laboratory which is capable of supporting a single microgravity experiment, and all launch services to fly the mini-lab to ISS. Students of each community will represent a microgravity experimentation way. Community will select which would be acceptable for flight experiment.

In the past, many students participated in providing the experimentation ideas but 27 experimentation idaes were selected and flown on the Shuttles. Hope so, this time students will do better design and provide better ideas than earlier.
