In today’s world ingrained well in technology, it is no surprise that many of the most valuable brands are names from the tech world. The most valuable brand, the one that stands on top of the list, is Apple. Apple bagged the position last year too and has been able to sustain its position through a second year. IBM stands in second position while Google has slid to a third.
Apple’s success in the smartphone and tablet market has brought it an unprecedented success. iPad and iPhone are flying right of the shelves in millions and this has hugely increased the semiconductor consumption of Apple, making it the largest chip buyer in the whole world. Although Samsung comes second in the list, it is still far off in terms of buying volume, when compared to Apple.
FaceTime, the video chat service that is available in Apple’s devices, has been wildly popular among iOS users. However, Apple has been rather reluctant in letting the users make use of the service over 3G. Currently, Apple allow users to make FaceTime calls only when they do so over Wi-Fi. But now, an iOS warning message suggests that Apple may have plans of changing this.
Sony has released an iOS app for its Music Unlimited streaming service. The app comes with two types of subscription of the Music Unlimited service – basic subscription and premium subscription. Basic subscribers can select any song from their created personal library. Premium subscribers of this service would get the freedom to choose any album or song from Sony’s collections. Sony is currently offering the premium plan free for 30 days.
Apple’s patents often afford us glimpses to what the company is up to. They also occasionally tell us what we can expect Apple to include in its upcoming products. Now, Apple has patented a multi-touch camera focusing system which is quite unique. This system is to be used with multi-touch systems, so Apple may be considering it for the next iPhone or iPad.
Although Apple has been working on multiple data centers than run on clean energy, the overall percentage of Apple facilities running on green energy is not too high. And that is precisely why Apple has been criticized in the past for relying heavily on ‘dirty energy.’ Now, it would seem that the company plans to change this.
Every time Apple is expected to roll out a product, the sales of the earlier model of that product significantly declines. This is because users start anticipating the release of the new device and want to buy the newer version rather than the earlier versions. Apple has been taken to task in Australia due to the fact that Apple touted the tablet as supporting 4G where the tablet couldn’t yet use a 4G network in the country. The company was taken to court by Australian competition regulator and a number of Australian customers claimed that they had been fooled by Apple’s 4G branding of the new iPad. It seems now that Apple is heeding these complaints now.
One of the most important annual Apple events, its WorldWide Developers Conference, is due to happen soon. And it seems that the company has got quite a lot up its sleeve to reveal at the conference. Many have already speculated that Apple may unveil iOS 6 at the conference and now, we have hints from Apple’s own sites to affirm this.
Apple has been trying to distance itself from Google Maps and to offer a similar service of its own for iOS users. The company has been warming up for this for quite some time, acquiring a number of other ventures which could help it in this. And now, we are told that Apple will finally be unveiling the new feature at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference.
DigiTimes has a knack of churning out Apple-related rumors regularly, now many of which eventually turn out to be accurate enough. Now, the publication has claimed that the manufacturer, Pegatron, has been acquired the manufacturing of the next-gen iPhone from Apple. And that this iPhone is expected to be released during September this year.
