The much-anticipated event of Mobile World Congress 2012 is finally only a few hours away with the promise of revealing to us a number of some really cool, next-generation devices and technologies. In the pre-event booth displays and press event, Huawei has unveiled it’s powerful, next-generation K3 Quad-core processor. With the sheer amount of awesomeness that this processor packs, it is sure to up the game for the entire smartphone market.

We have been hearing that Huawei had plans of unveiling a quad-core processor, even before MWC 2012. The pre-event press conference and booth displays has confirmed that now. This is a huge step forward for the company, bringing it directly in line with others who are offering quad-core processors. The processor unveiled by Huawei is a quad-core A9 CPU and has 16 GPUs inside. What sets this processor fairly apart from it’s contemporaries is that , according to Huawei’s claims, this processor has the lowest chip temperature in the market. Moreover, Huewei also claims that it has the smallest footprint, which also makes it an eco-friendly product.

Here’s what truly shows the potential of this new product from Huawei: Huawei compared the performance of it’s new processor with the chips in Galaxy Nexus and Eee Pad Transformer. And the K3 quad-core processor turns out to be the best of the three, in all benchmark tests. More significantly, the processor promises to save your device’s battery juices as it consumes as less as 50 percent of AP power.

Huawei plans to launch this nifty, powerful chip in it’s new Ascend D quad smartphone. Huawei claims that with the help of this power-saving, ultra-efficient processor, the Ascend D quad is ’49 percent faster than the world’s fastest smartphone.’ And that is not just an empty claim. Huawei has well substantiated it by testing the new smartphone against iPhone 4S and Galaxy Nexus. The shocker for the readers is that Ascend D is indeed faster than all these flagship smartphone devices.
