Settlement Talks Between Apple And Samsung Will Happen In May

Many have been rather skeptical of the attempts at settlement talks between the two tech giants, Apple and Samsung. However, Apple’s chief, Tim Cook seems determined to go forward with the talks. He seems to have taken a clear departure from Steve Jobs’ stance in a recent statement he gave regarding the settlement talks.

Cook expressed his opinion during the conference call on Tuesday after he was asked that how flexible was Apple when it came to the company’s rivalry with Samsung. What Cook said clearly shows that Apple has come a long way from Jobs’ stance of fighting till the last breathe against Android. Cook seemed rather more complacent towards the whole thing, wanting to resolve it as soon as possible.

During the call, he stated, ‘I’ve always hated litigation, and I continue to hate it. We just want people to invent their own stuff. And so if we could get to some kind of arrangement where we could be assured that’s the case and a fair settlement on the stuff that’s occurred, I would highly prefer to settle versus battle. But it — the key thing is that it’s very important that Apple not become the developer for the world. We need people to invent their own stuff.’

The CEOs of both companies, Apple and Samsung, are scheduled to meet up in May in a San Francisco court for settlement talks. However, it remains obvious that despite all this, Apple will insist on making Android devices look different than its own. According to an analyst from FOSS Patents, ‘The dispute isn’t ripe yet. At some point there will be a settlement, but both parties need more decisions from the courts.’

What remains to be seen, within three weeks and a half, is that how flexible Tim Cook can be over this matter.
