In the recent past, a number of wireless carriers have quietly shelved their unlimited data plans during the surge in data usage across the board. Some had expected that unlimited data plans may become extinct altogether. However, T-Mobile has proved them wrong by offering an Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan without requiring an annual contract.
The monthly rate for this plan may sound a little high to some but it must be noted that before this, the carrier didn’t offer any 4G data plan if a customer couldn’t sign an annual contract. So with this new move, T-Mobile is finally giving the users freedom to wriggle out of the whole annual-binding thing and make their choices on monthly basis.
The unlimited nationwide 4G data plan is going to cost you $70 per month. The sheer amount of data that you can use on it, and the fact that it is not annual, more than compensate for that amount. The unlimited-data-plans trends is already gaining traction, T-Mobile says, with half of new customers in December having gone for the hassle-free unlimited, non-annual deal.
This is certainly welcome news for the customers. We are sure that once AT&T and other carriers get to see that customers are vying to get their hands on the unlimited data bundles, they may be willing to jump the bandwagon themselves. We can expect a return of the glorious days of unlimited data plans, after all.
