Huawei is almost ready to drop its Ideos X6 Android phone on the US.That’s because of the presence of AWS-band support in it, of which T-Mobile is the biggest user. The Ideos X6 may get rebranded once T-Mobile decides to launch it.
The X6 has already launched in Australia has support for 14.4 Mbps HSPA, so, according to T-Mobile’s definition of the term, this will be a 4G device. The Ideos X6 will run Android, presumably 2.2 Froyo – but there is a chance it will get Gingerbread. It’s got quad-band GSM support, a 4.1-inch WVGA (800×480) capacitive touchscreen, a 5 MP camera with 720p HD video recording, Wi-Fi, GPS, a HDMI port, a microSD card slot, and Dolby Mobile surround sound. It’s powered by a 1 GHz processor.
The FCC documentation reveals the frequency bands on which the X6 is certified to operate, including those exclusively used by T-Mobile. While there’s no announcement from either company on the phone’s fate, you wouldn’t be presumptuous in assuming it’s coming to T-Mobile’s stable in the near future.
No pricing information is available yet, but as the Ideos line are traditionally budget-price phones, you hopefully won’t have to shell out too much for the X6.
