Google Tweaks Search Results To Display Relevant Semantic Data

Google has been adding a number of small new features to its online search. However, the search engine had promised us that it would be launching a major revamp which will enable to search in a far better way. To be exact, Google had promised that the new search would be somewhat like “how humans understand the world.” Now, it seems that Google is living up to that promise.

While Google hasn’t officially announced any such updates to its search results, a number of users are reporting that they are witnessing them. The fundamental difference that is being witnessed by the users is that rather than merely returning search results, Google is trying to accurately gauge the search queries and produce direct semantic data related to them.

For instance, if you search ‘English football team’, you will get the regular search results. But at the same time, to the right of these regular results, you will also see the names of the players of the team as well as description of the team.

Similarly, if you run other queries on Google search, you are shown both the regular results as well as related semantic data so that you may directly get what you are looking for.

Perhaps this is what Google meant when we were told that Google search will be better able to understand humans, and how humans understand the world. Currently, the feature is accessible to limited number of users and not everyone can view it.

It seems that Google is rolling it out slowly and hasn’t made it official yet, as is evident in the words of a Google spokesperson, “We’re always experimenting with ways to improve Search, but we have nothing to announce at this time.”
