FOX To Offer Movie Download Weeks Before Discs Release

FOX has planed to give a movie download offer for its consumers. The company has chosen Ridley Scott’s science fiction thriller “Prometheus” for this offer. According to FOX’s plan, it will offers high-definition version of Prometheus movie to download at lower price. This download offer is beginning three weeks before the movie available on discs and through the UltraViolet cloud service.

FOX hopes such type of download offer will increase consumers interest to buy the company’s movies. Consumers can download the movie early for $15 each where movie’s regular price is $20. The download offer is only for UltraViolet cloud service users, which will be starting on September 18. FOX will release the movie for DVDs, Blu-ray discs as well as other streaming service such as Netflix on October 11.

UltraViolet (UV) was developed by the 74 members of the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem consortium including film studios such as Warner, Paramount, Sony and Universal. Till now, FOX is not a member of UltraViolet (UV).
