Acer Iconia Tab A500 users have to wait for the July 5, or late July to get their official Android 3.1 update and that’s only across Europe and in Japan. The Motorola XOOM and the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer have been enjoying it for a few weeks now. But still there’s no official date for it in the US.
An official looking update has been found and passed around over on XDA-Developers. This update can be flashed to unrooted or rooted devices. It seems to provide all of the benefits of Honeycomb 3.1 like resizable widgets, browser improvements, USB device support improvements, among other things.
This new version has already been rooted and custom ROMs built off this leak that augment the upgrade with superuser privileges. If you should decide to use this remember that it is a leak and it might be possible that further updates from Acer will not work. However, if you just can’t stand the idea of not having the latest and greatest then follow the link bellow give it a shot.
