Windows 8.1 May Finally Arrive In October

We have been hearing about Windows 8.1 for quite some time now. Although the new version of the Windows 8 OS wouldn’t pack a lot of new features, it will still bring many fixes and improvements to the users. Now, it has been hinted that Microsoft may roll out Windows 8.1 by October this year.

Microsoft had earlier announced that it will be handing over the Windows 8.1 update to the device-makers by the end of August. Clearly, the company has no plans of rolling out the update to the users at the same time. Rather, Microsoft may wait a few weeks after the roll-out to device makers before making the update available to the users.

This brief gap is meant to enable the device-makers to test out the new update and check for any bugs and other problems that may be present in it. After these problems will be sorted out, the update will be rolled out to the users.

Once the update arrives, users who already have Windows 8 will be eligible for the update. At the same time, any new Windows 8 machines that will be arriving in the market will come pre-packed with Windows 8.1.

The new release primarily focuses on design and other minor improvements, with no significant features packed in it. The major Windows 8 refresh that Microsoft is planning is expected to arrive sometime in 2014.
