Yesterday, Sony teased a picture of its upcoming SmartWatch on Twitter. The teaser Image proved that rumors of such a device were true after all. According to CNET, the gadget “will offer some notable feature upgrades to the company’s current wearable tech offering.”
So, what could be the upgrades in Sony’s new SmartWatch? CNET reported, citing an unnamed source, the news SmartWatch will offer a larger capacitive touchscreen than Sony SmartWatch MN2SW. It will be minimally water-resistant. The gadget will run Android and include a three-icon layout below the screen similar to Xperia smartphones. What is completely new in the gadget is the addition of NFC. It will enable the watch to pair with smartphones easily, and then the connection will be maintained via Bluetooth.
The new Sony Smartwatch will be unveiled at next week’s Mobile Asia Expo 2013, to be held from June 26 to 28.
