Battlefield 3, developed by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) and to be published by Electronic Arts, is trying to gain some hype by leveraging Facebook. Battlefield 3 is getting a lot of love on Facebook, with approximately 781,000 likes as of this article’s publication. This is accelerated no doubt by EA and DICE’sA promise to release a full 12 minute gameplay trailer once they reach 1,000,000.
DICE executive producer, David Bach, has lauded the game as truly next gen. In a recent interview with CVG, he says the engine that drives this masterful first person shooter not only pushes the PS3 and 360 to their limits, but can dominate graphically on the next generation of consoles as well. “I think Battlefield 3 will look like a next-generation game and all the technology we’re building, the whole Frostbite 2 system – the animations, audio, everything – is trying to aim for a couple of years in the future, rather than looking at what we have today.”
This 12 minute collection of in-game footage shows off the “ANT animation technology” as Sgt. Black is tasked with disarming a bomb, leading to first-person melee combat with the bomber and a large-scale firefight in the streets.
