Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4 are pitted against each other in the gaming arena. Although PS4 is priced lower than Xbox One, it seems that both consoles are on the same page when it comes to first-party titles. The first-party games for both Xbox One and PS4 cost $59.99 each.
A Microsoft spokesperson recently confirmed this by saying, “I can confirm that Microsoft Studios games on Xbox One will be $59.99 (MSRP).” Sony has also confirmed a similar price tag for its own first-party game titles meant to arrive on PS4.
According to a Sony representative, “We have announced the pricing for our first party line up of PS4 launch and launch window games. All four titles, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Knack, and inFamous Second Son are all $59.99.”
These price tags shouldn’t really come as a surprise, given that $59.99 has been the standard price established for the current-generation consoles. However, it is not sure so far what the price of third-party titles, arriving for these two consoles, would be.
We certainly hope that the third-party titles will come in a broad range of prices, with some being more affordable than the first-party titles. The number and nature of the titles offered on PS4 and Xbox One will greatly determine which of the two will be the sweetheart of the gaming industry in the coming days.
