OUYA Console Will Finally Ship To KickStarter Backers On March 28

The good news for the thousands of KickStarters users who decided to back the popular Android game console, Ouya, are that the console will finally be shipped to them on March 28. This has now been announced by the OUYA team.

Ouya

According to the official blog post announcing the shipping date, the assembly of the console units is already in process. At the same time, the company has revealed that a full launch of Ouya will take place in June. To make things clearer, the March launch will bring the game console only to those users who backed Ouya’s KickStarter campaign.

The other users will be able to buy the console from popular retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy and others in June this year and with a pricier tag.

Another interesting announcement made by Ouya is that it has hired the former chief executive of ThatGameCompany, Kellee Santiago. The new hire is considered very significant across the tech industry.

Commenting on her decision to join Ouya, Santiago says, “Ouya gets it. This is the first console company that really understands how important it is to remove the barriers to development. By freeing up the development process, Ouya is opening up new doors in console gaming.”

The company is actively working with multiple game studios and individual developers to develop games, apps and other content that would be available to the console users. Once Ouya is finally out of the box come March, we will be able to finally see what awesomeness the nifty product packs.
