Rovio rose to wild fame and success with its Angry Birds franchise. Although many years have passed since its launch, the Angry Birds franchise continues to dominate the mobile gaming platform. However, Rovio apparently wants to attend to newer releases now and is gearing up to launch ‘The Croods.’

The Croods

Although Rovio has amassed immense success through the Angry Birds franchise, the company’s other offerings over the years have failed to gain a similar traction. For instance, Rovio launched Amazing Alex during 2012. The game was initially a hit and rose to the top of the app charts but it couldn’t build up on that initial success.

Regardless, Rovio has now announced that it will be releasing yet another new game, ‘The Croods’ on March 14. The game is essentially based on the characters of an animation movie of the same name that has been developed by DreamWorks.

So ‘The Croods’ is essentially a movie tie-in game. Rovio had undertaken a similar movie tie-in game venture back when it launched Angry Birds Rio. The animated movie ‘Rio’ was the cinematic outcome of that venture.

Lets hope that this upcoming offering from Rovio is as enticing as its Angry Birds franchise, and that it offers us a respite from birds-flinging and brings us other physics-based fun.
