Apple has been hiring a lot of executive from the gaming sector. Apple already hired executives from Nintendo and Electronic Arts, two major players of the gaming industry. And now, Apple has hired Robin Burrowes who is the marketing manager for Xbox UK. This is yet another major hire by Apple. So why is Apple hiring so many gaming-industry executives? The reason is simple. iOS gaming has expanded hugely in recent times. In fact, Sony and Nintendo have been pushed to a side as iOS and Android devices clench the gaming industry positions. And Apple is gearing up for serious competition by hiring best gaming professionals around.
iOS have emerged as major players in the gaming industry recently. The conventional gaming giants, Sony and Nintendo, have reported huge losses this year and the main reason is that Android and iOS devices are getting into the game. In 2009, iOS and Android gaming accounted for just about 19% of overall gaming industry. In 2010, this percentage increased to 34% and by the end of 2011, it had reached a staggering 58%. And it is continuously on the rise.
So naturally, Apple is gearing up it’s efforts to deal with this massive expansion into the gaming industry. Apparently, the new recruit, Robin Burrowes has been hired as the head of Apple’s App Store, Marketing division for Europe. He will help Apple devise strategy to further it’s gaming ambitions and to successfully make inroads into the gaming user base in Europe. With the kind of personnel Apple has hired, we have no doubt that Apple will succeed.
