Verizon Wireless has announced yesterday that a new Games Portal, a standalone app marketplace for games combined with a social network similar to Apple’s Game Center, is launching on its network. Verizon’s Android devices will come pre-loaded with Games Portal. This game marketplace is separate from Google Play and available to Verizon customers only.
PlayPhone, an experienced builder of gaming networks, has developed Verizon’s Games Portal. The platform includes millions of Verizon customers for vast distribution, engaging social features, streamlined billing, cross-promotion, and the power of Verizon marketing. These things can make it a good choice for developers, since Google still lack such a marketplace specialized on games.
