Save iOS 4.2.1 IPSW File if You Want Untethered iOS 4.3 Jailbreak

The untethered jailbreak from Comex on iOS 4.2.1 for all iDevices was scheduled to release by Christmas, but due to some issues Comex was not able to finish his job.But now here is something interesting which caught our eyes.iPhone Dev-Team had an alternative plan which is the “back up plan” using an old firmware iOS 4.2b3, but this firmware caused some piracy issues, as it’s not available for public, it’s only available for developers.

From the above tweet:

L0ung3f1Y asking: @comex or freakin release a jailbreak that does not require 4.2b3
MuscleNerd replying: So if @comex were to develop 4.2.1 untether, we warn all to save their 4.2.1 IPSWs for 4.3 untether via Monte

If Comex releases untethered 4.2.1 jailbreak then you will need to preserve iOS 4.2.1 IPSW & hashes for upcoming iOS 4.3 untethered jailbreak.

More Explanation:

Limera1n bootrom exploit by Geohot can do tethered jailbreak on any idevices with any iOS firmware but in order to make untethered jailbreak it needs separate kernel hack. This job of finding kernel hack is done by Comex. So if comex release untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak the chances are high that Apple will patch it in upcoming iOS release.

Now here is where trouble of finding new kernel hack for newer iOS firmware jailbreak starts. Fortunately iPhone dev team has found new method, we call it “backup plan” which we are using to get untethered jailbreak on iOS 4.2.1 using old firmware (4.2 beta 3).

In same way we can get untethered jailbreak on newer firmware with the help of older kernel hack and firmware file. So if Comex is successful in finding iOS 4.2.1 kernel hack then in future Dev team will use this kernel hack & iOS 4.2.1 firmware file to get untethered jailbreak on all future iOS release.
