Steps to Downgrade iTunes 10 to iTunes 9.2.1

Apple has released iTunes 10 with some new features such as Ping.But, many users are now facing problems after updating to iTunes 10 on their Jailbroken iPhone 4.Those iPhone and iPod Touch users who want to come back in iTunes 9.2.1 after updating its to 10.This guideline is perfect for them.

Instructions For Mac Users

Step 1: Delete the following files in the iTunes application in /Applications folder

* com.apple.iTunes.plist located in ~/Library/Preferences (this is the library folder inside your user folder)
* iTunes.pkg located in /Library/Receipts (this is the library folder at the root level of your startup drive)
* iTunesX.pkg which is located in /Library/Receipts

Step 2: Download iTunes 9.2.1 for Mac OS X and install it.

Step 3: Recreate your iTunes library, if necessary

Instructions for Windows user

Step 1: Take a backup of your “iTunes” folder in a flash drive or to any other safer location.

Step 2: Open the Control Panel and uninstall in the following order

* iTunes 9.1
* Apple Mobile Device Support
* Apple Application Support
* Apple Software Update
* QuickTime

Step 3: Now unstall and launch CCleaner. Click the button “Analyze” till the scan is completed. Reboot your Windows PC.

Step 4: Navigate back to C:My Documents\My Music\iTunes

Step 5: Rename the file Library.itl to Library.itl.backup.

Step 6: In iTunes folder, open “Previous iTunes Libraries” and find the most recent library backup, (like “iTunes Library 2010-09-1.itl”)

Step 7: Copy it, then paste it in C:\My Documents\My Music\iTunes and rename it iTunes Library.itl

Step 8: Download iTunes 9.2.1 and install it.

Step 9: Recreate your iTunes library, if necessary.
