Pod2g is the iOS hacker that was successfully able to achieve an untethered jailbreak of iPod Touch, iPhone, iPhone 3GS, iPod 4G and iPod 3G. His success at untethered jailbreak stirred quite a sensation in the iOS community. Pod2g has been attempting to achieve the same success on iPhone 4S and iPad 2. And here are the updates on his progress.
An untethered jailbreak is a kind of jailbreak where you don’t have to reboot your device through another external device, every time you restart your iPhone. It means that no matter how many times your device restarts, reboots, it works fine – and stays jail broken.
Pod2g has been working incessantly on achieving an untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4S now. However, according to his blog, he hasn’t been able to crack it yet because his processor cache is having some problems. Pod2g also posted that he is very close and he is very optimistic that good news are on the way very soon. He also promises to update his blog tomorrow, so we can keep our fingers crossed for a success.
