ION 2 Eee Pc 1215N is a new notebook by ASUS.It have LED-backlit 1366 x 768 LCD, up to 2GB of RAM, a 250GB HDD, 10/100 LAN, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1…..and many more..
Finally, a nice powerful netbook from Asus. The Eee PC 1215N really has us excited and it’s coming very soon. The internals for netbooks are going to be getting a nice performance boost soon and who’s better than Asus to get them first with how dedicated they are to the netbook industry. Look for the Asus Eee PC 1215N to be officially announced on May 13, 2010 but we already have a sneak peak at what Asus has planned.
Asus’ upcoming 12-inch flagship netbook, the Eee PC 1215N, is set to include a dual-core Pine Trail processor, next-generation ION as well as Nvidia Optimus technology. We knew that much already, but now NetbookNews has managed to get hold of a pre-production sample and spilled the beans on additional specs, benchmarks as well as a good look at the unit itself.
The Eee PC 1215N tested came with the 1.66GHz dual-core D510 Pine Trail processor that is normally found in nettops. It was initially thought that the netbook would come with the upcoming 1.5GHz N550 dual-core processor that would have had greater power efficiency, but maybe Asus have decided against waiting for the new chip
The Eee PC is said to be including an Intel dual-core Atom CPU clocked at 1.5Ghz, the NVIDIA ION 2 GPU with Nvidia’s Optimus Technology which will allow for this netbook to switch from the Nvidia graphics and the integrated Intel graphics with ease. When you are using the Nvidia ION 2 you will see better performance when playing HD video content, including HD flash. The Nvidia ION 2 will be taxing on the battery life if it’s the only option but Asus has included the Optimus graphics switching technology which will downgrade you to the integrated graphics when you don’t need the ION 2 to save you precious battery life.
Graphics duties will be taken care of by next-generation ION and the included Optimus technology means that Intel’s GMA 3150 will take care of less-intensive duties. The 1215N will also come with a single USB 2.0 port and two USB 3.0 ports (as you can distinctly tell from the pictures from the blue internals). It will come with a 4400mAh battery.
Asus has also made some significant changes to the exterior. It now comes with a matte lid and palm rest and a much larger touchpad adorned with faux-chrome trim on the left/right sides. The 1215N also appears to be slightly thinner.
In terms of benchmarks, the Eee PC 1215N scored 5,806 3DMarks in the 3DMark03 test. This compares to 4,482 for the Eee PC 1201PN and 3,593 for the Samsung N510 that we tested earlier in the year. That makes it a nice c30 percent improvement over the 1201PN (single-core Pine Trail and next-gen ION). The 1215N scored 3.2 in Windows Experience Index (WEI).
The price an scheduled date for sale will all be announced on May 13. Stick with us we’ll update you with more news on the Asus Eee PC 1215N.
