Samsung NC215S Solar Netbook Release Delayed In August

The Samsung NC215S is the first 10 inch netbook to feature a solar panel built into the lid. It was initially scheduled to ship during the week of July 3rd,US shipping date, Liliputing is now saying that the solar-powered laptop won’t make it to consumers until sometime in mid to late August, due to hold ups involving the machine’s custom panels.

liliputing reached out to Samsung and found out that there’s been a delay involving the custom solar panels. The release date has been pushed back by a month or so and now Samsung plans to ship the NC215S in mid or late August.

The company says you should be able to get 1 hour of battery life for every two hours of charging time in the sun. The netbook features a 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N570 dual core processor and a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel matte display. The solar panel is expected to generate enough electricity to provide 1 hour of run time for every 2 hours of charge time.

This Netbook is available in Amazon is now taking pre-orders for the Samsung NC215S for $399(In the Ad Avobe). Meanwhile Provantage has it listed as a “special order” which could take 3 to 4 weeks to deliver. Provantage is charging $391.
