MWC 2012 – The World’s Fastest Smartphone, Ascend D Quad, Is Here [Hands-On Pictures]

MWC 2012 is truly taking the world of mobile devices and technology to an all new level. Huawei has unveiled a powerful K3 quad-core processor in it’s event which is fairly ahead of most of it’s contemporaries. The other big unveiling by Huawei during the event at Barcelona is it’s new flagship smartphone, the Ascend D quad. As the name suggests, this smartphone is powered by a quad-core processor and Huawei claims that it’s the ‘world’s fastest smartphone’ which it may well be.

The device tools the K3 quad-core processor, also unveiled during the MWC 2012. This puts it well at the top of the line, with quad-core mobile chips being the next-generation hype for mobile users. Ascend D is part of Huawei’s new ‘Diamond’ series of handsets and runs Android 4.0. It has a cool 4.5-inch display with a 720p quality and has three capacitive buttons right below the display.

This new handset from Huawei weighs as little as 4.6 ounces and is a mere 8.9mm thick. Although the device does not have LTE compatibility yet but the company says it will be here this very year. The fairly awesome display is further complemented with an 8-megapixel rear camera which shoots a high-quality 1080p video and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. The device has integrated within, the Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. This sound system is further enhanced with the earSmart technology which also comes by default, and does quite a magic in removing the noise.

Featuring K3 Quad-core processor:
The battery for this sleek device is an 1800mAh. Huawei claims that the processor used in the device,K3 quad-core, uses up to 50 percent less power than other processors. So this should keep the battery of this device going for a much longer time. It is precisely because of this quad-core processor that Huawei is claiming that it’s new smartphone is 49 percent faster than the other ‘fastest smartphone in the world.’ It is a bold claim but it seems Huawei has what it takes to substantiate the claim.

Huawei quite boldly and openly compared the features of Ascend D with other leading smartphone devices, such as iPhone 4S and Galaxy Nexus, and the shocking truth is that Ascend D beat them all to it! Although Ascend D is really the jewel of the crown in the ‘Diamond series’ Huawei has also announced two other models in the series, namely Ascend D quad XL, with users craving for extra battery juice at 2500mAh battery and Ascend D1, a dual-core version of quad-core D.

Huawei hasn’t given a definite release date or pricing details for these devices. However, Huawei has all plans to take all these models international and promises a ‘global market’ for them.
