It seems that Nexus user experience has become the new trend in the Android smartphone market. After the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, recently rumors have surfaced around that the Nexus experience will be coming to the Sony Xperia Z very soon.
Nexus edition basically brings pure Android experience to the phones without any manufacturer tweaks to the user interface, which ensures that the device gets updated as soon as a new version of Android is launched. Two different sources Android Geeks and Android Central have reported that a vanilla version of the Xperia Z has been in the works for some time. The sources claim that the Xperia Z Nexus edition will run on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean)
Like the “Nexus experience” devices from Samsung and HTC, the Xperia Z will also be sold through Google Play. The smartphone will receive updates in a timely manner just like Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. Apart from these, theXperia Z Nexus edition will be available on AT&T and T-Mobile networks.
However, neither Android Geeks and Android Central did not talk about potential launch date or about markets where the Xperia Z Nexus edition will be launched. But sources believe that the phone will arrive this summer in the market. It is expected that the Google Edition of Xperia Z will retail at the Google Play Store for $599.
If you want stock Android on your existing Xperia Z you can do so, as Sony has released the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) based system update with vanilla Android experience with the Xperia Z smartphone. Of course, this AOSP for Xperia Z is meant only for advanced users and developers.
