Pioneer has introduced a car navigation system which combines head-up display (HUD), augmented-reality (AR) and GPS. The car navigation system will come in two models – one is AVIC-VH99HUD (1D + 1D unit) and other is AVIC-ZH99HUD (2D unit). Pioneer claims that the Cyber Navi is the world’s first AR-enabled car navigation system using an HUD. The prototype of the system was first shown at CEATEC in Japan, 2011.
The two models of the GPS system will be released in late July 2012 in Japan. The AVIC-ZH99HUD and AVIC-VH99HUD is priced at ¥300,000 ($3,770) and ¥320,000 ($4,021), respectively.
