It looks like a regular old compact from the outside, but there’s some exciting tech inside the new WX5. This Exmor model uses every trick in the book to get around the constraints of a small sensor. Sony even claims it can create 3D images. All this in a truly sleek and minuscule camera body featuring a 5x zoom, 1080p HD video, and a (possibly frustrating) 3-inch touchscreen. Whew. The previous model, the WX1, received some mixed reviews in part due to its excessive price, but this new incarnation will be going for a reasonable $299. This one is likely to be expensive as well, and we’re skeptical about the performance claims, but absolutely love to see Sony pull this off.
