Apple introduced the more compact 7.9 inch iPad Mini a couple of days ago, and the tablet continued on with pre orders yesterday morning. The tiny tablet pre-sales have even sold out for the most part, but competing tablets may be doing just as well. With the 7-inch tablet market expanding, Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD had its best selling day since its launch day briefly after the iPad Mini was announced.
Amazon.com reported sales of their $199 Amazon Kindle Fire HD recorded a record high just a day following the iPad Mini introduction. This means that price conscious clients happen to have waited to determine exactly what the massive Cupertino tech company would present. Once the $329 base price-tag was presented, tablet consumers decided on a Kindle Fire HD purchase over the iPad Mini.
In a statement to AllThingsD, Amazon stated the following:
“Wednesday was the $199 Kindle Fire HD’s biggest day of sales since launch and up 3x week over week”
Amazon has never released sale statistics for their Kindle lineup over its year-after-year history, however this sounds like pretty great news for the online-marketplace company. This could be horrible news for Apple whose iPad Mini has taken criticism over its sale price.
