In a surprising move, Apple has finally revealed the exact sales figures for the new iPad. And as always, Apple has well been able to top the best estimates put forth by analysts. While analysts have been saying that on the launch day, Apple will be able to sell up to three million iPad tablets, the company has now announced that it has been able to sell a whooping three million units since launch, which was precisely three days ago.
It is quite surprising that Apple has revealed the figures so soon since it has often guarded such secrets until the end of the on-going quarter. One possibility could be that with Tim Cook steering Apple into a stock buyback initiative, revealing these highly impressive stats may placate the concerned investors.
According to Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, ‘The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet. Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of even more customers around the world this Friday.’
Given the rapid pace at which Apple is shipping out millions of new iPad tablets by the day, I think we all should be ready for some awe-inspiring record sales from Apple this quarter too. While the device is currently available in US, Canada, UK, Hong Kong, Germany, France and six other countries, it will also become available in another 24 countries by March 23rd. So, the demand for the new iPad is still very strong and it will continue flying right off the shelves!
