After a drama filled weekend that involved the leak of a beta version of Comex’s PDF based exploit, the famed userland jailbreak developer has finally released the latest version of his web based jailbreak program called Jailbreakme 3.0
Jailbreakme 3.0 code named Saffron, works on all the latest iDevices. That includes iPad 2 running either iOS 4.3 or 4.3.3. As of right now versions 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 are not supported, but Comex says he will add support for those versions of iOS at a later date. The list of devices and their corresponding firmware are as follows
- iPad 2 4.3 & 4.3.3
- iPad 1 4.3 – 4.3.3
- iPhone 3Gs 4.3 – 4.3.3
- iPhone 4 4.3 – 4.3.3
- iPhone 4 (CDMA) 4.2.6 through 4.2.8
- iPod Touch 3G
- iPod Touch 4G
So far things look like that have gotten of without a hitch, except for the occasional bug. iPad 2 owners are reporting a very good success rate.
It has definitely been a long wait for this iPad 2 supported jailbreak to be released. All the top iPhone hackers have been putting in extra time looking for the next exploit. For now iOS 4.3.3 is the end of the road regarding this exploit. There is a good chance Apple will patch this hole soon with iOS 4.3.4 at anytime. There is also no support for any of the iOS 5 betas, so make sure you have your SHSH blobs saved somewhere!
If you havent already jailbroken your device, then you can head over to jailbreakme.com on your device, and make sure you are using the Safari mobile browser. Remember to always jailbreak safely!
