Portable Solar Oven ‘GoSun’ Can Cook Food In 10 Minutes

While the technology is here, then why spending too much time in cooking? Now with the help of GoSun, you can cook food in 10 minutes!

GoSun Stove

GoSun is a tube-shaped portable solar oven. The tube measure 2 feet (0.6 meter) in length and 2.25-inch (5.7 cm) in diameter. Without any food inside, the whole oven only weighs 3.5 lbs (1.5 kg). You can easily put 3 lbs (1.4 kg) food or 53 oz (1.6-liter) of liquid inside it. GoSun uses parabolic mirrors to concentrate sunlight onto a glass cylinder and cook the contents inside. The central cooking tube is made from borosilicate glass. It is resistant to thermal shock and has a vacuum beneath the surface to insulate the interior. The inside of the tube is lined with copper, stainless steel, and aluminum nitrile to absorb in a better way and conduct heat from the sun’s rays.

A set of aluminum stands holds the stove firmly in place and can be tilted downward. Therefore it is easy for you to dispense coffee and other hot beverages. With GoSun, you can not only cook food, but also can bake, fry, boiling, and more. The stove also includes a sliding tray with a heat-resistant handle, allowing cooks to add or remove food at any time.

Functions Of GoSun

The solar even is capable of cooking food within 10 minutes, depending on what type of food you are preparing. On a clear, sunny day, GoSun can cook 6 hot dogs in 10 minutes. But in cloudy conditions, the solar stove takes about 2 hours to bake a tray of muffins. Although the developers have recorded a highest temperature of 700°F (371°C) inside the oven, but they have said that the oven tends to cook best between 200°F (93°C) and 550°F (288°C). Here is a video showing how to use the GoSun.

The development team of GoSun is currently running a Kickstarter campaign for mass-production of it. The team has a goal of collecting $40,000 within October 27. As of writing, having 39 days left in hand, the team has collected $99,046 from 484 backers.

You could have GoSun MINI, which is shorter than its big brother and uses a non-folding wooden frame by pledging $79, while for the GoSun, you have to pledge $279. It is expected that the stoves will be shipped in December of this year. However, here’s another video to see some of the many dishes the GoSun Stove can help you prepare.
