In this simple tutorial we will see how we can recover a password of a wireless network to which we have connected. This can be very useful in case you forgot your WiFi network password and want to give it to a friend or connect some other devices in your household. It may also be helpful to found out the wireless password of your faculty, school or work. I will explain this procedure under Windows 7, but it can also be applied to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 8.
To get started follow steps below:
Step 1: Click Start menu and then choose Control Panel.
Step 2: From window that opens up choose Network and Internet.
Step 3: Now choose Network and Sharing Center.
Step 4: In the Network Center window under View your active networks section click on Wi-Fi(Your WiFi Name) where (Your WiFi Name) represent the name of your WiFi network. In our case its name (Boris_Wireless).
Step 5: In the window that opens click on Wireless Properties button.
Step 6: In new window that opens up select Security tab.
Step 7: Activate the Show characters checkbox appearing under the field Network security key.
Step 8: Once you remembered the password unselect Show characters checkbox and close all open windows.
Another method to recover WiFi password
If above method does not work for you, or you do not use Windows XP follow below steps (you have to be connected to Wifi whos password you want to recover):
Step 1: Download WirelessKeyView program from this location.
Step 2: The program requires no installation, just unzip the file and run the file.
Step 3: WirelessKeyView will display a list of wireless networks to which you are connected and under row Key you should see a password used for that WiFi network.
