Google may have been able to beat other smartphone vendors in that the total number of Android smartphone sales has outed all the others. However, Apple is still the winner in a lot of things. To count a few, Apple has the highest revenue and the highest profits among all the smartphone vendors.
Now, it has been revealed that although there are much more Android devices out there than iOS devices, the iOS users are far more likely to surf the web on their devices, compared to Android users. These results have been put together by NetMobileShare.
To measure the difference between the web activity of Android and iOS users, NetMobileShare measured his on the web pages of their clients over a time period of past one year. This includes accounting for some 160 million visitors per month!
From the results that were deduced from measuring the number of hits and their origin, it was found out that that the web usage on iOS devices is increasing faster than on Android devices. For instance, during this time period, iOS devices registered a growth of 20% in their mobile web usage.
Android devices, on the other hand, had their mobile web usage share risen by 38% from 14.3% to 19.7%. While this number is definitely larger than the rise in iOS devices’ share, we have to consider the fact that Android sales were a lot more than Apple sales and yet, in that context, the growth of Android mobile web usage share is rather tiny.
