Google Maps helps you find your way throughout the world, but Netherlands-based developers Kakhiel and Venour have come up with a new take on the feature: “Google Naps,” which will help you find the perfect place for having a quick nap.
Google Naps is actually a parody of Google Maps. The Google Naps site allows people to designate their favorite napping grounds — from park benches to grassy knolls — with the click of a button. These napping spots, which include Portugal, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Brazil and all four corners of the US, are shared by fellow users. Interestingly, Netherlands seems to be the very popular country for sleeping places.
The Dutch founders have left a message on the Naps tool for Googlers as well as for Sergey and Larry:
Dear Sergey & Larry (and other Googlers)
Hello, please don’t be mad this is just a joke, a parody. We don’t mean to damage your brand or anything, we just want to bring a smile on the faces of Google fans. So please don’t take this to court, we only have a few hundred Euros in the bank. And we also don’t want to go to jail because we’re too busy with other things at the moment. But whenever you are in the Netherlands you can have a nap on our couch if you want, just e-mail us: kakhiel@gmail.com. We can also make coffee and bake eggs if you like that (for a small price).
On the other hand, Huffington Post has reported that it has received a statement from Google regarding the Google Naps website. Google has mentioned that “as longtime supporters of napping, we’re thrilled to see Google technology connecting the world’s sleepiest citizens with places to catch some zzz’s.”
