A YouTube user has posted an interesting video which demonstrates how you can turn your monitor into a top-secret, invisible display. In other words, only you will be able to see what’s happening on the display, the others will simply see bright, random lights. Watch the video below to find out how.
The neat trick involves adding cuts along the boundaries of your display and then pulling off the polarizing filter that is pasted to the front of the screen. It must be noted that the trick works with LCD monitors, so you better not try it on any other displays.
The polarizing filter, as the name suggests, turns what would otherwise be hazy lights into a coherent display. But once you remove it, all you can see with naked eye is a display with a lot of bright lights. Here’s the crucial part of the trick: you are now to take the polarizing filter, cut two small pieces to fit a pair of glasses and then put on the glasses.
As soon as you put on the glasses, you will be able to view the monitor and a clear display in all its glory. So if anyone looked over your shoulder or happened to be passing by, all he will see is a black, bright monitor. This is certainly one of the coolest hacks out there, although be advised that you will be sacrificing an LCD monitor for it. Also, once you remove the polarizing filter from your LCD monitor, there’s no going back. You will then have to use the monitor together with a pair of polarized-filter glasses or you won’t be able to work with it.
