Amidst the hype of CES, Facebook has caused a blitz with a mysterious invitation to select members of the press. The invitation calls the members of press to attend an event at the social network’s Menlo Park, CA headquarters on January 15.
What called upon the attention of the press to the event is its mysteriously crafted message – “Come and see what we’re building.” It gives absolutely no clue about the event’s agenda.
A few are guessing, this could be the unveiling of a smartphone from Facebook. The supporting facts are Facebook’s recent recruitment of Apple engineers with experience in working on iPhone and iPad development. However, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg had turned down any possibility of developing a smartphone by the social network, saying it “wouldn’t make any sense.”
Last time, when Facebook held such an event, the social network announced its partnership with Skype.
