Google Me Is Now Google +1

Google Me which was initially called a “Facebook killer,” is now said to be a social toolbar/Chrome extension.TechCrunch has reported several different project names have been bandied about, including “Emerald Sea,” but the latest (and greatest, in my opinion) is Google +1, or Google Plus One.

Google Me which was then known as Emerald Sea is now known as Google +1. The picture of Google News clearly shows a share feature on the top of the navigation bar. You can also see note in big red label as “CONFEDENTIAL!”.

Another difference is the presence of a “Loop” service along with the usual array of Google’s services lined up at the top left. Loop is basically Google nomenclature for Groups where you can add or remove people that cater to common interests. And again, the functionality of this doesn’t seem all too different from Facebook’s recently-launched Groups feature.

TechCrunch also asked Google for more dope on this but Google replied in a typical discreet way that any company would about any product that’s under wraps saying, “We’re always experimenting with new ways to improve our products, and we have already confirmed that we are focused on incorporating social elements across Google. But we have nothing new to announce at this time.”

We can expect it to become available soon. They might go out with closed beta experimentation like previous projects. Google +1 is definitely something to watch out for in the future.

Thanks
