Twitter Sets New Record During Euro 2012 Final Match

Twitter has broken all of its old sports related records. During the European Championship (Euro 2012) football final between Spain and Italy in Ukraine, a new record has been set. Twitter has counted that during the match users have sent 15,358 tweets per second. The record has gone up during the fourth goal of the game then the score was 4-0. Total of 16.5 million tweets were sent out around the game on Twitter.

Twitter’s previous sports record was 10,245 tweets per second which has been extirpated to the new record. Previous record was created during the last few minutes of the Superbowl final between the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.

However, till now 25,088 tweets per second is the highest record which occurred during a television screening of Japanese anime movie Castle in the Sky by legendary director Hayou Miyazaki.
