When Nokia released its new flagship Lumia devices, we were able to get a few hints as to what the upcoming Windows Phone 8 may pack. However, the official launch of the new iteration of the mobile OS is still to happen and now, Microsoft has rolled out invites for the launch event scheduled on October 29th.
Motorola Mobility, owned and operated by Google, has withdrawn its recent patent infringement accusations against Apple with the International Trade Commission. The exact reason behind the patent withdrawal was left quiet. We are awaiting word on whether the Android-based smartphone maker will testify the reasons.

When Apple received a favorable verdict against Samsung in the landmark victory over its design patents, it also brought a rather small win for Samsung. The court found Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 not infringing the patents that Apple had brought forth. In light of this, Samsung moved the court to lift the ban from the tablet’s sales in the U.S. And now, the court has granted it.

U.S. Patent Office has been frequently criticized for being incompetent, ill-equipped to handle modern technological notions, and quite oblivious towards what is patentable and what is not. These objections were highlighted during the patent war between Apple and Samsung. And now, by granting a rather crazy patent to the domain registration site, GoDaddy, U.S. Patent Office seems to have proved the point.
