NASA Engineers Mentioning Mars Landing As “Seven Minutes of Terror”

In November of 2011, NASA launched a 10 feet long Mars Science Laboratory (Well known as “Curiosity“). It is supposed to land on Mars on upcoming August 5, 2012 at 10:31 pm PDT. From atmosphere to landing on the surface of Mars, “Curiosity” will take 7 minutes of time. The whole success of this mission depends on this 7 minutes. But this 7 minutes is very risky. Team members of Jet Propulsion Laboratory are mentioning this 7 minutes of time as ‘Seven Minutes Of Terror.’

NASA’s New Telescope Will Illuminate Black Holes

The space is a dark and mysterious thing. Sometimes the latest telescopes fails to bring the mysterious and dark side of the space into light. But with the NASA’s new space telescope, the mysterious and dark side of the space can be brought easily into light.

NASA Will Provide Launch Control Center Tours To Public, Limited Time Offer

Within a few days, NASA will be opening up its Launch Control Center (LCC) to the public. Yes, it’s the same place where 152 different launches were supervised – from the Apollo missions to the space shuttle program. To celebrate the Kennedy Space Center’s 50th anniversary NASA has made this special arrangement for the citizens.

NRO Donates Two Military Spy Telescopes To NASA – Powerful Than Hubble

It’s been a rough year for NASA’s science program, with a major pullback in its Mars exploration program and continuing threats to cancel the James Webb Space Telescope. NASA was worried about the budget of the James Webb Space Telescope which is supposed to take the place of Hubble Space Telescope. The agency also has plans for a Wide-Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST) which is supposed to be used for searching extra-solar planets and study “dark energy”. But the agency’s tight budget was pulling it backward’s in realizing the goals. Seems they now have an occasion to pop champagne bottles (that NASA claim they never do because of tight budgets). The civilian space agency has got not one but two gifts from the U.S. space intelligence agency the National Reconnaissance Office – two former spy telescopes more powerful than the Hubble telescope.

NASA Will Take It’s Space Shuttle “Enterprise” Around New York Today

Even wanted to catch a glimpse of a real, live space shuttle in person? While one way to do so is naturally, to be recruited by NASA. The other way is to be on the alert today if you happen to be in New York City because NASA’s space shuttle ‘Enterprise’ will be taken around New York.

Milky Way And Andromeda Galaxies Are Destined For Head-on Collision: NASA

NASA astronomers announced on Thursday that our Milky Way is bound for a head-on collision with the similar-sized Andromeda galaxy. The Milky Way galaxy is destined to get a major makeover during the encounter, which is predicted to happen four billion years from now. The sun will be flung into a new region of our galaxy, but our Earth and solar system are in no danger of being destroyed.

NASA Requests Future Lunar Explorers Not To Mess With Its Moon Artifacts

It’s been more than 40 years since man first landed on the Moon. The field of space exploration has seen many breakthroughs ever since, and landing on the Moon is still regarded as one of the most important milestone to be crossed to prove ones excellence in space exploration. As a continuation of this trend few more countries, including China, India, and Japan, are looking to put unmanned probes on the lunar surface in the next few years. Private space exploration companies are also expected to send probes in the moon. The X Prize Foundation announced that they want to put a robot on the moon by 2015. And NASA is worried that these unregulated space explorations may destroy its historical artifacts in the moon. To preserve its moon stuff, NASA has restated its previously released guidelines for future lunar explorers.
