Toyota To Go Slow On Electric Cars, Drops Earlier Plans

By 2015, U.S. President Barack Obama would like to see one million Electric Vehicles (EVs) on the road. But, industry players consider it impossible to achieve. Toyota is no different. The automaker has scrapped plans of widespread selling of its eQ compact electric vehicle. Toyota said that the still-emerging battery technology is not ready to meet the needs of the society.

Toyota Unveils Nintendo DS Controlled Navigation System In Japan

Toyota has unveiled a tool which enables motorists to control their vehicle’s navigation system using a Nintendo DS. The new tool, called Kuruma de DS, has recently been shown off at a press conference in Tokyo. Basically, it works with Toyota’s new Smart Navi system, using a DS cartridge that can connect with the car manufacturer’s Smart Navi system via Bluetooth.

Toyota Announced Production Of Prius Plug-In Hybrid

Toyota officially unveils production Prius plug-in hybrid, available March 2012 for $32,000 and the Chevrolet Volt has stolen a lot of thunder from the Prius in the media coverage department, but Prius sales are still continuing strong. The plug-in aims to retain some of those buyers and offer the large existing pool of Prius customers an enhanced option from Toyota and also gains a new lithium-ion battery pack, ditching the older NIMH technology of the standard cars. The plug-in Prius can operate in electric-vehicle (EV) mode for an estimated 15 miles at a speed of up to 62 miles per hour and the plug-in will switch to hybrid mode, providing an estimated 49 miles per gallon. The Hybrid Synergy Drive system in the Prius Plug-in Hybrid is essentially the same as in the current third-generation Prius and new Prius v models……………….

Toyota Smashes EV Record On Nurburgring

Toyota Motorsport Group’s PV001 EV set a record for fastest electric vehicle on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and this beats the previous electric car time by a healthy margin and puts Toyota’s electric racer on par with the lap times recorded by vehicles like the Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911 Turbo, but is still a ways off the any-powertrain-goes record of 6:48. The just-bested EV record was set by Peugeot’s EX1 earlier this year at 9.01:33 and the EX1 averaged a rather impressive 85.9 miles per hour on the grueling track. Toyota hopes the victory will bring new awareness to electric racing and perhaps to help sell custom race cars in the future and the project is a valuable chance to test high-performance electric powertrains in a real motorsport environment, giving TMG’s engineer’s a chance to learn more about cooling, battery performance, motor performance, durability, etc……………

Toyota to take on Nurburgring without a sound, aims to beat EV record and to break the current nine minute, 1.388 second world best, Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) is unleashing an electric race car with two motors and a top speed of 260kmph (174mph) without emissions. The Radical-based car is similar to the one used by the Racing Green Endurance team on its epic 16,000 mile road trip and the ompany hopes breaking the record will show racing fans just how far electric cars have come…………..

Ford Teams Up With Toyota For New Hybrid System

Auto giants Ford and Toyota plan to ointly develop a hybrid powertrain for light trucks and SUVs, in a move designed to bring hybrid technology to a wider set of vehicles and the two companies announced a collaboration of equal partners that will yield a new hybrid architecture for rear-wheel-drive vehicles later in the decade. Toyota and Ford will also work together on in-car telematics, although this will focus on standards and technologies for safety and communications and two will also be sharing data to advance infotainment and in-car technology systems, meaning someday your Entune might talk to your Sync and the whole telematics world could be a better place…………………..

Ford partners with Toyota to share technology, for developing new hybrid system for trucks and SUVs. So the journey begains towards a new way of Automobile technology.
