Garmin has unveiled its latest wrist-worn Non-GPS marvel for those who don’t treat exercise as a dirty word, the Garmin FR70 Fitness Watch and the FR70 uses ANT+ to talk to other exercise equipment, such as the bundled heart rate monitor. The fitness watch can track the time you’ve been working out, along with your heart rate and how many calories you’ve burned and it can track your speed and distance while walking, jogging or running. The pair will be available in the UK, starting in November for £129 / €139 ($197) and pairing the watch with a wireless foot pod will clue you in on speed, distance and cadence during your training sessions………………

Computer scientists at the Sarland University have developed a new wireless braking system for bicycles and it is all done with a range of wireless devices. The wireless braking system for bicycles is made up of a a wireless transmitter on the hand grip and a motorized disk brake caliper. Perfected in the fact that it has a reliability of 99.999999999997%, which translates into just 3 failures during a trillion braking attempts and the brake completely does away with the need to have traditional brake cables and harnesses attached to a bicycle frame. Hermanns and his colleagues at Saarland University are now working on improving their system’s traction and are still looking for engineers to turn their concept into a commercial reality……………

Luxury car maker Audi says it will unveil its A2 electric concept car during the Frankfurt Motor Show this month and the vehicle is about 12 and a half feet long is still roomy enough for four people. With the A2 Concept, Audi is looking to move its LED lighting technology into the next generation and the headlights feature a high-resolution, non-glaring high beam and high-efficiency low beam light modules. There’s very little information on the A2’s drivetrain, but Audi does reveal it uses a powerful electric drive system with a long range and Audi is keeping construction details a secret too, so we’re unaware if it matches the original’s aluminum unibody……………..
